Movie Fun in the Burbs
Posted on April 16, 2011
I have always loved going to the movies, and now that my kids are older, I can take them all together, and they will sit through the entire movie and not pace the corridors and cry. I love this….. In the last month, we have seen Hop, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Mars Needs Moms and Rango. Next on the list is Rio, which just came out yesterday. The place we usually go – mostly because it’s got a wide variety of movies and it’s close – is AMC Framingham 16.
When it’s just Adam, my beau, and I, we love to go to AMC Framingham Premium Cinema. The tickets are more expensive ($14 before 3:55 p.m. and $19 after 4 p.m.), but it’s assigned seating, the seats are extra cushy, there is free popcorn and soda, and you can eat dinner, drink wine and thus completely relax while watching the movie. It’s absolutely fabulous.
Here are some other great movie theaters in the area…..
AMC Chestnut Hill 5, Chestnut Hill, MA – this is located right on Route 9 close to the Chestnut Hill and Atrium malls, so it’s especially convenient if you want to do some shopping too.
Landmark Theaters Embassy Cinema, Waltham, MA – this is a great theater right in the heart of Waltham so it’s a great spot if you want to grab dinner after the movie.
Showcase Cinema de Lux Legacy Place, Dedham, MA – I have never been here, but it looks incredible with 15 theaters and a Lux Level (pictured on the left), similar to the wine/dine option that the AMC Framingham Premium Cinema offers. It’s definitely on my to-try list.
Studio Cinema – Belmont, Belmont, MA – I haven’t been here either, but it always comes up as a location when I search for movie theaters close to me. Have you ever tried it?
Verizon IMAX 3D Theater at Jordan’s Theater, Natick, MA – you probably already know….this place is unbelievable with its surround sound and surround theater – all in 3D. Avatar played here for months, but unfortunately, I didn’t see it there. It must have been quite an experience.
West Newton Cinema, West Newton, MA - this is an older cinema and has a tendency to have some esoteric movies, which makes it a fun place to go.
And on a final note, do you know about the great movie source, MovieFone? It’s the first place I go when I want to find out anything about a movie, theater, showtimes, etc….
So what are your thoughts? Do you love the movies too? And what’s your favorite movie theater (or at least the one you most frequent)? I can’t wait to hear….
