Wellesley, MA Community Information

Located approximately 14 miles southwest of Boston, Wellesley has a population of 27,982 (per the 2010 town census) and was incorporated in 1881.  Here are some brief real estate-related facts about the community:

  • Almost all properties are serviced by town sewerage systems, and all have town water.
  • The train line has three stops in Wellesley, and the train into Boston goes to South Station.
  • The 2013 tax rate is $11.70 per $1,000 of Valuation.
  • There are seven elementary schools for grades K – 5, and the elementary school system is grounded in a neighborhood school philosophy such that your child attends the school in your neighborhood. The seven elementary schools are Bates, Fiske, Hardy, Hunnewell, Schofield, Sprague and Upham Schools.  There is one middle school and one high school.
