Aka Bistro in Lincoln, MA & the Oscars are Here at Last….

Posted on February 27th, 2011

There is a new restaurant in the burbs, specifically in Lincoln, MA, and since this doesn’t happen all the time, I wanted to share all of the details with you.  Aka Bistro, which features French cuisine and Japanese sashimi, has opened in Lincoln at 145 Lincoln Road.  But truth be told, it’s actually not so new – it opened in spring 2010 – and I’m not sure how I missed it.  Anyway, we went there last night for dinner, and I am so excited to have this kind of restaurant so close – nice, warm and cozy atmosphere, delicious food and reasonable prices – that I wanted to tell you all about it right away.

First, the two owners are steeped in Boston restaurant experience.  Executive Chef/Owner Chris Chung was most recently Executive Chef at Ken Oringer’s Back Bay sashimi bar, Uni.  And General Manager/Owner Christian Touche worked for the Eliot Suite Hotel in Boston on such ventures as Clio and Uni as well.  Second, the food is fabulous.  Last night, I ordered the black olive and tomato tart as an appetizer and the scallops as an entree, and they were so tasty.  My dinner companions ordered the escargots, salmon, mussels with fries, and calamari, and everyone was equally as impressed with the food as I was.  The restaurant is open for lunch Monday – Friday, for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and for dinner every evening except Sunday night.  And finally, Aka Bistro is easy to get to, especially since it’s a hop, skip and a jump from the Lincoln Station Depot (which originates from North Station).  Have you had a chance to try Aka Bistro yet?  If not, put it on your “to do” list…. And the restaurant is participating in Boston’s Restaurant Week from March 6-11 and March 13-18 so maybe that’s your time to try it?

And finally – but just as importantly – the Oscars are finally here.  I can’t wait.  “Live from the Red Carpet” starts at 6 p.m. (eastern standard time) on E! Entertainment Television, and I can’t wait to see the dresses and garbs that all of the celebrities will wear.  Who will be Best Dressed?  Who will be Worst Dressed?  The kids and I are going to vote on these two categories, and we’ll share our thoughts with you tomorrow.  Maybe we’ll be on the same page as The Fashion Police??!!  To me, “Live from the Red Carpet” is more exciting than the actual award ceremony, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on who will win Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Movie – these are the awards that interest me the most.  How about you?

Let’s catch up tomorrow and share notes on how the evening went…..
