What is Your Shoe Preference – Style or Comfort?
Posted on August 11th, 2011
I know I am in Montana right now – Big Sky Country, as they say - and so I really should be sharing all of my mountain adventures with you (which I promise to do soon), but here I am talking about shoes?! Oh well. And admittedly, this subject is more tailored to the ladies (sorry to the men out there), but I am so curious to hear your thoughts…. Which do you prefer – the stylish, in vogue high-heels of Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo, to name just a few, that everyone “oohhs” and “aahhs” over or the lower heels of Dansko or Aerosoles, for example, which may not be as glamorous or envied but fit your foot like a glove and make you feel like you could walk for miles? Hands-down, I vote for the latter, also known as the comfort choice, basically every time…. I won’t even look at a heel that is more
than a few inches knowing that if I do, I will trip, twist my ankle, fall – basically a lot of bad things will happen. And I do like to walk for miles in my shoes, so if it’s not comfy, it just won’t do. Not to mention that the more comfortable choices are often a bit easier on the pocket book. And I have found shoes that are pleasing when worn but also look good too – I promise.
And yet in seeing the shoes that my friends wear and observing their shoe collections, watching Sex and the City and other such trendy, diva shows, and hearing all of the media coverage on this subject, I realize that my vote for comfort is most likely the minority choice….
What are your thoughts on the subject? And what is your preference? Are you a glutton for foot suffering in an effort to look mah-velous in the meantime? Or is your foot pain threshold so low that you always opt for shoe comfortability? I can’t wait to hear….

Fun question – and I, at 60 (but also at age 50, 40, and 30) vote for comfort every time. But, I watch others in those ‘glamour’ shoes with envy….
