Got a New Year's Resolution?

New Year's Resolutions postcard

Are you one of the hundreds – or maybe even thousands – who start each new year with a New Year’s Resolution?  A group of my friends and I were at my friend Patty’s house in Weston, MA for New Year’s Eve, and naturally the question of New Year’s Resolutions came up.  What was everyone going to resolve to do differently in the New Year?  I heard “eat in a more healthy manner,” “work out more,” “improve my relationship with my spouse” – all were centered around making things better, which makes sense….  I tend not to make New Year’s resolutions mostly because I know the task or goal that I vow to espouse will probably not last – I guess I am a realist in this particular case.  I have said “not eat as many sweets” too many years in a row and have not been able to follow through so now I just strive to be healthier – mentally and physically – each day. And sometimes I succeed at this and sometimes I do not, and this too seems pretty typical for most people.

That being said, I do commend those who continually make New Year’s Resolutions and are determined to adhere to them.  So just out of curiosity, I googled “top new year’s resolutions 2010″ and here’s what I found:

So are you one who starts the new year with a New Year’s Resolution?  And if so, what was your resolve for 2011?  Does it appear on the list above? I can’t wait to hear……
