Weston Youth Lacrosse Kicks Off its 2011 Season

Posted on April 3, 2011

Today marked the kick-off of the Weston Youth Lacrosse 2011 Season with its first games of the season.  Weston Youth Lacrosse (WYL) is comprised of girls and boys teams at several age groups/grade levels – U11/3rd and 4th grades, U13/5th and 6th grades and U15/7th and 8th grades.  (Of note, there are also U9 teams, which are made up of girls and boys in 1st and 2nd grades, but their practice schedule and games are less frequent than those of the other age groups.)  The WYL strives to “promote youth lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes fun, while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship and integrity.”   All good….

For the month of March, all of the teams practiced indoors, but the practices were somewhat optional as many of the kids were wrapping up their ice hockey, swimming or other sports seasons.  So today was really the big day.  The girls teams played in Weston, and the boys team played away – either against Natick or Northboro-Southboro.

For the past two years and now this year as well, I have been lucky enough to have served as an assistant coach for my oldest daughter’s lacrosse teams.  Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, which is often referred to as the lacrosse capital of the world, I played lacrosse in middle and high schools (they didn’t start it any earlier all those years ago).  At that time, we didn’t wear eye guards and our sticks were wooden, but most everything else was basically the same.  Lacrosse is not the easiest sport to pick up and master, to say the least, and that’s what makes it so compelling.  This sport and game will always have a special place in my heart and memories, and so coaching my daughter and the girls has been priceless.  Today was our first game, and the first time the girls had played together as a team, and their level of play and teamwork was fabulous.  I was so proud as a coach, Mom and fellow Lacrosse alum.  Go Lax!

Have you played lacrosse and/or do your children?  What are your thoughts on the sport?  I can’t wait to hear….

Pinnacle Report for Weston, MA Real Estate 2/21/2011 – 3/6/2011

Posted on March 7, 2011

It’s time again for my twice-monthly Pinnacle Report covering the Weston, MA real estate market.  And since we seem to be getting into the Spring market, I decided to share a Spring photo with you – and might I just add, Alleluia, at last the snow is melting…..

Ten single-family homes came on the market in the last two weeks in Weston, and two sold*.  It turns out, however, that all of this activity actually took place during this last week, which is not a surprise given that the first week of this time period was school vacation week.  And it seems that our inventory (73) is on the increase, which we expect given the time of the year and the fact that the Spring market appears to be getting underway. To fully enjoy all of the market stats, please click Weston Pinnacle Report 2-21-2011 – 3-6-2011 for the details.

* Sold means “pending/under agreement” and not yet closed.
