As a real estate agent myself, this is something I ponder all of the time. What is most important to my clients?  And does it differ if you are buying or selling a house?  Is it most important to work with someone who is ethical and trustworthy?  Or someone who has local expertise and knowledge? Or someone whom you think is a savvy negotiator? Or someone whom you like and with whom you can build a friendship?  I could go on and on…..

My guess is that all of the positive qualities mentioned above are important, and how you priortize what you are looking for in an agent depends on your style, personality and objectives.
